This course consists of 8 lectures as prepared by the leading specialists of JINR, which will tell you about the new accelerator complex called NICA that is being built at the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics (VBLHEP) at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), in the city of Dubna, Moscow Region. This megaproject is extremely important for the implementation of applied and fundamental research in the field of nuclear physics. Here you will learn about the steps that scientists are taking to study and reproduce a special state of matter in the laboratory - the quark-gluon plasma – which made up our universe in the first instants after the Big Bang.
